alla fine, l'inizio

it's the last day of the year,
you didn't think we'd leave you alone without saying one final thing, did you?

well, lovelies. for me, december 31st is one of those mornings i like to wake up slow - realizing how fast the year went, as do most people. damn... it's DONE. but, it's also one of those kind of amazing times. you know in movies when everything goes to complete shit for the protagonist and there's a montage of them getting their life together with some really uplifting, awesome song? THIS IS THAT. except it's a state of mind in preparation for an even better version of your non-movie character self.

so, i guess i start with some resolutions (gag). well, i can't say i've ever kept mine... but i am going to keep them realistic this year. just a few tweaks here and there. the big stuff too, but i'll let that be a more gradual process. point is this is one giant excuse for you to feel refreshed, recollect. it's like going to sleep, ready to get rid of the mind trip of an old day and start a new one except in YEAR form. it's pretty cool.

even though my yearly horoscope forecast revolves around "responsibility" (sigh), i am ready to go full throttle to make this year so so rad. i know everyone says that, in various ways, but maybe we can all make 2011 our year. it'll be one big world of awesome.

basically: become your own boss. and own it! let's use this invisible division of time as an excuse to become even more ourselves... aka better, even more badass, boozie ass bitches.

alexi says it wonderfully here on boycrazy. no waiting for what you want, ya hear?

happy new year!
we'll see you in 2011.

deck those halls.

how good does being hungover feel exactly? AWESOME. do you know why? ....
well, friends. this all indicates that FINALS ARE OVER. LIFE CAN RESUME. i woke up at 4:30 today head throbbing, with my last fm looking like this (see below) and i can totally lay in bed watching daria all day (and prob will) with nothing due! for the next month!

to correspond with my emy baby's list, here's my sinfully over materialistic/lolololol/$19,000 dollar mcqueen rug christmas list. if you've got cash and love in your hearts, i DO have a mailing address.

--> jean paul gaultier teamed up with dr. martens in 2009 to make these lovely babies... i don't even think they are available anymore, but see i need them. where? tell me!

--> to live in here... ideally, the inside of my head looks like this all the time.

--> marc jacobs

--> elizabeth and james

--> aa

--> hairy socks jewelry

--> miu miu glitter oxfords

--> alexander mcqueen rugs

but really don't need any of it, it's enough that i'm going home tomorrow for the first time in 4 months. that's perfect in itself. i miss so much about it. so many people. and a reunion with the lush babes? indeed. happy holiday season everyone.

back in business

hello from georgia! after a much needed break from school, i am back with a big bag full of inspiration. in the past week i have found some of my new favorite fashion photography resources which i couldn’t wait to share with you guys (even though you most likely already know them), here they are anyways:

-the sartorialist
-fashion gone rogue
-papermode

i spent about four hours straight copying some of these pictures along with all of the i-D
magazine cover archives yesterday and my eyes are ready to fall out. thought i’d start to share with you a few of my favorites, of course there were so many that i’m most likely going to need to spread this out among a few posts ha -happy holidays!

hey, hola! good day!

it's sunday, my favorite day of the week (really), and i'm sitting here sippin coffee and catching up on things that need to be done.

it's actually becoming winter and that means: tons of more time on the internet, abusing netflix, skipping class, cuddling, and being a bear in hibernation.

so, there are things you should know about in this time of solitude.

#1  the black cab sessions

so hypothetically, say we jam your fav band into the backseat of a cab, and have them play a song right then and there... no dubbing or do-overs. oh, someone actually did that? well, damn! the world is a good place.

*prime example why lykke li is QUEEN. a few years ago, i stumbled upon this video of her performing "i'm good, i'm gone" in the back of a london cab and it was the first exposure i had to her. seriously, is this for real? how perfect. good god girlfriend.

other noteworthy performances: first aid kit, savoir adore, the raveonettes,
ALL OF THEM... actually.

grab a cup of coffee and veg!

i'm back! with gifts!

oh my, i missed you guys!

sorry for my absence, stuff has been a little crazy. but more importantly, the real breaking news is....

JUSTIN BIEBER IS WHITE Y'ALL.

i hope that video made your day like it did mine. thank me later. i knew the rap game was missing something... did he say "hella dome". hm, maybe i imagined that. i promise to never mention him on this blog again, baby baby baby oooh. beliebers (?) get out of here/ jkjk no hatin'. kk, kewl. OH, HE ALSO DID A FREESTYLE ON TIM WESTWOOD. worth a watch. k, moving on.

so calling all gurlz! do you live in chicago? play an instrument? /not play an instrument -jus say "hey, i'll play tambo" aka you're fun and will provide amusement + we luv you (plenty lovelies already made this cut). i'm making an all gurl band, like riotgrrrl style. i want you to be involved. just awesome girls, with awesome style, and a knack for making shit.

i just got a new synth:

which made my week totally above average!

so holler @ me if you live in chicagoland and are interested. i'm thinking like... munchausen by proxy style, zooey's band in yes man.

but really, no labels! we're above that!

hey, i love you. i won't leave you for as long next time, k?

XXactly what i needed

k guys. i'm finished hiding under a rock now!

while we were separated there has been some really lame homework in my life but also some really badass music-ahhhemmmm THE XX WARPAINT AND ZOLA JESUS at the tabernacle in atlanta!

the last show i had been to was sitting outside of the orange peel in asheville, nc listening to modest mouse, so i was long overdue for some musical fulfillment.

driving in atlanta happens to suck so we ended up a little late, but in time for warpaint- although the girls decided to pass on playing songs from their ep..............to say i was disappointed is a huge understatement! i was so ready to hear billy holiday and elephants live-but their new sound was still awesome so i guess ...maybe....i can kinda forgive them.

as always the nervous stillness right before the band comes on stage is so awesome to be a part of especially when the xx opened with intro and literally sent vibrations through the crowd (not sure how they do that but it was amazing!). the light chanting of oliver and romy's voices started out the show with a hypnotic effect.

although their album is a much slower pace there was never a dull moment especially with oliver's cymbal solo during infinity and the special editions to songs like shelter.

their set actually energized the crowd and you could feel the collective disappointment when they had to leave the stage, although their encore was the perfect ending to the ups and downs of the show. to think that this is their first tour blows my mind-romy's voice is even better live, their dynamic with one another is just as awkward as you would expect, they dress in all black, they thanked the crowd after almost every song---what more could you ask for, really?
