sorry for my absence, stuff has been a little crazy. but more importantly, the real breaking news is....
JUSTIN BIEBER IS WHITE Y'ALL.
i hope that video made your day like it did mine. thank me later. i knew the rap game was missing something... did he say "hella dome". hm, maybe i imagined that. i promise to never mention him on this blog again, baby baby baby oooh. beliebers (?) get out of here/ jkjk no hatin'. kk, kewl. OH, HE ALSO DID A FREESTYLE ON TIM WESTWOOD. worth a watch. k, moving on.
so calling all gurlz! do you live in chicago? play an instrument? /not play an instrument -jus say "hey, i'll play tambo" aka you're fun and will provide amusement + we luv you (plenty lovelies already made this cut). i'm making an all gurl band, like riotgrrrl style. i want you to be involved. just awesome girls, with awesome style, and a knack for making shit.
i just got a new synth:
which made my week totally above average!
so holler @ me if you live in chicagoland and are interested. i'm thinking like... munchausen by proxy style, zooey's band in yes man.
but really, no labels! we're above that!
hey, i love you. i won't leave you for as long next time, k?
while we were separated there has been some really lame homework in my life but also some really badass music-ahhhemmmm THE XX WARPAINT AND ZOLA JESUS at the tabernacle in atlanta!
the last show i had been to was sitting outside of the orange peel in asheville, nc listening to modest mouse, so i was long overdue for some musical fulfillment.
driving in atlanta happens to suck so we ended up a little late, but in time for warpaint- although the girls decided to pass on playing songs from their ep..............to say i was disappointed is a huge understatement! i was so ready to hear billy holiday and elephants live-but their new sound was still awesome so i guess ...maybe....i can kinda forgive them.
as always the nervous stillness right before the band comes on stage is so awesome to be a part of especially when the xx opened with intro and literally sent vibrations through the crowd (not sure how they do that but it was amazing!). the light chanting of oliver and romy's voices started out the show with a hypnotic effect.
although their album is a much slower pace there was never a dull moment especially with oliver's cymbal solo during infinity and the special editions to songs like shelter.
their set actually energized the crowd and you could feel the collective disappointment when they had to leave the stage, although their encore was the perfect ending to the ups and downs of the show. to think that this is their first tour blows my mind-romy's voice is even better live, their dynamic with one another is just as awkward as you would expect, they dress in all black, they thanked the crowd after almost every song---what more could you ask for, really?
