a lil disappointed, how bout you?

september is supposed to be the month of super-sized magazines packed with photo spreads that you can't wait to cover your walls in...so what happened!?! maybe it's the economy making zines take the safe route, but there was a collective lack of visual interest on the stands this year. everyone seemed to play it safe including one of my go-to magazines for unique covers, i-D. celebrating their 30th birthday, i-D left the liquor and fireworks behind for fruit cake and milk. don't get me wrong kate, naomi, and lady gaga are all legendary icons, but why show them toned down on what should be such an exciting cover? elle banked on "eat, pray, love" with julia yawnnn.. although i would rather hunger strike than miss an issue with kate moss in it....vogue uk couldn't let go of her either--we'd like to see something new. the only spread that made it on the wall so far is the legendary grace coddington's styled lara stone shoot for american vogue. maybe next month the fashion world will be back to the kind of risk-taking spirit they started with..
